Erica Sacoto

Learning Lab #2

Abstract: Explores how Torres' Bicultural Orientation Model can transform approaches to Student Engagement and Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) within Higher Education. By examining the intersections of cultural identity, belonging, and leadership development, participants will gain insight into how Bicultural Orientation influences Latino Student Involvement and Retention. The presentation will connect theory to practice through tying the importance of Multicultural Greek Council Organizations, Latino Student Unions and Cultural programming. Attendees will leave with tangible strategies to foster inclusive and culturally affirming engagement opportunities that empower Hispanic and Latino students to thrive in their developmental, cultural and institutional contexts.
