Demystifying the Fraternity Man: Navigating Identity, Leadership, and Campus Impact
Alec R. Arnett

Concurrent Session #3

"They do more harm than good" is a phrase used by some when discussing fraternity men on college campuses. During their centuries-long history, fraternities have been known to perpetuate negative stereotypes around masculinity, misogyny, hazing, and alcohol. But what lies beyond these stereotypes? Participants will challenge misconceptions about fraternity men, understand the intended educational outcomes of fraternity membership and leadership, and will walk away with practical tips for engaging with and advising fraternity men. Rooted in our purpose of student development, growing in our ability to balance multiple perspectives.
