A Case Study Exploration of the Expansion of Land Grab Institutions through Land Acquisition of Asylums/Mental Health Centers at Ohio University and North Carolina State-Centennial Campus

This session will explore the how higher education land grab institutions have acquired land meant for asylum and/or mental health centers property. We will present two case studies: North Carolina State- Centennial Campus and the Dorothea Dix Hospital and Ohio University and the Ridges to elucidate important considerations. Lastly, we will evaluate how the property once focused on mental health and wellbeing is currently being used by the neoliberal institutions and the implications for this action.
