Roundtable #1

Logical fallacies pervade everyday discourse, yet many undergraduates struggle to identify flawed reasoning in academic and real-world contexts. This roundtable brings together educators to share practical strategies for teaching fallacy recognition and analysis across disciplines. Participants will discuss pedagogical approaches, including active learning exercises and scaffolding techniques that progress from simple fallacy identification to evaluation of complex arguments. We will explore common student misconceptions, discipline-specific applications, and the role of fallacy instruction in broader critical thinking development. Attendees will leave with practical classroom activities and collaborative insights for helping students become skilled detectors of faulty reasoning.
