Journeys to the RA role: Lived experiences of international students of color within the PPCT framework
Anyi Ma

Roundtable #1

This research investigates how international undergraduate students of color navigate access to Resident Advisor (RA) roles at a large U.S. university. While RA participation supports student development, little is known about how intersecting identities—race, ethnicity, and international status—shape access and decision-making. Guided by the Process–Person–Context–Time (PPCT) framework and using a constructivist phenomenological approach, it explores lived experiences to identify barriers and motivators. Findings aim to provide actionable insights for residence life and international student services to advance equity, inclusion, and campus integration for international students of color.
