Character Education for an Ideologically Diverse World
Laura M. Harrison, Pete Mather

Roundtable #1

The Higher Education Research Institute survey of 20,000 educators across 100+ universities and disciplines found that about 84% of respondents believed educators have a role in developing students' character and personal values like honesty, integrity, open-mindedness, generosity, compassion, and humility. However, most educators rarely receive guidance or training in students' character development. In this session, we will provide participants with frameworks for inculcating character as well as a forum for sharing their own resources and approaches. We will offer ample opportunity for troubleshooting challenges and building on strengths as identified by the attendees of this session.
